NuvaRing: a vaginal contraceptive

Although the combined oral contraceptive pill is by far the most widely prescribed contraceptive option, it does not suit all women and, being user-dependent, tends to fail women who cannot stick to a daily routine. NuvaRing is a vaginal contraceptive, a hormone-containing ring that has shown good efficacy and tolerability. Its alternative method of delivery may appeal to younger women, thus helping to reduce the high rate of unplanned pregnancy in the UK. In this expert panel discussion, three specialists discuss the new product and its place as a contraceptive choice.
